Macrophotography, entomology, typescript annotated by M. Pau - Lot 77
Macrophotography, entomology, typescript annotated by M. Paul Langeard, to which is attached 3 plates of silver prints and some unmounted photographs. Superb set of corrected proofs and original photographs having composed the model of this article published in 1939 in the magazine Le Leicaïste. It is the first publication dedicated to insect photography in this reference magazine. Paul Langeard first defines the terms macro and microphotography, then presents the microphotographs, then presents the material necessary for the realization of the photographs. The second part of the article is dedicated to insects, detailing how to kill them, position them and keep them to take the most beautiful portraits. This set contains 24 charming photographs, most of them captioned, of which 9 will be retained to illustrate the article of Leicaïste. The name of Paul Louis Modeste Langeard (1892-1964) is inseparable from that of the bibliophile Marcel Jeanson, whose librarian he was, and whose books and hunting manuscripts he catalogued. A former student of the École des Chartes, a scholar recognized by the booksellers of his time, he was the author of a Histoire de la Chasse (Le Prat, 1945) and contributed to numerous scientific journals.
