SAGEOT Nicolas (1666-1731). (Attributed to). MAZARINE COMMODE inlaid with brass on a red-tinted tortoiseshell base. It has a violin front and sides with protruding tables. It opens with 4 drawers in 4 rows with 3 compartments. The decoration on the 3 sides features arabesques, foliage, mascarons, grotesques, flowering bowls and insects. The projecting uprights are scrolled and terminate in bronze sabots. The inlaid sides are part two. Beautiful ornamentation in gilded bronze for the lock escutcheons with mascarons and leafy friezes. The upside-down console jambs rest on 4 ormolu feet in the shape of a doe's hoof. Superb green and white veined red marble top (restored). Late Louis XIV period circa 1700. Superb condition.
