By the Author of Ephemerides du Citoyen. In Amsterdam and in Paris, Hochereau jeune, Desaint, Lacombe, 1768. 3 parts in one vol. in-8 of (2)-152 pp. ; 69-(1) pp. ; (4)-201-(1) pp., havana basane, spine decorated with nerves, red morocco title piece (contemporary binding). First edition. The first part includes a Treatise on the trade of blueberries, in which the author analyses the benefits that the people can derive from the freedom of the grain trade. The second, Traité sur la moulinage des grains & sur le commerce des flines, taken in part from Dr. Malouin's book, contains innovative technical details on the economical way of grinding grains. The third treatise, On the Making & Trading of Bread, allows Abbé Baudeau to develop his analysis of the right proportion between the price of wheat and the price of bread. It also gives some technical insights on milling and baking. "L'Avis au Peuple is a practical, semi-technical book, since it deals with milling and bakery; a work of expediency, one might say, written with a view to urgently remedying the high prices, and finally to help the healthy and generous views of the Administration, which in such circumstances alone bears the weight of the people's misery and the ignorance of the subadministrations" (Weulersse). Small accident to a cap; corners slightly worn. INED, 273.
