Jacques Boucher de Perthes, Opinion of Mr. Cristophe. First part, on prohibitions and freedom of trade. Second part, followed by his commercial and philosophical journey. Part three, or Mr Cristophe at the Prefecture de Police. Part four, or a man's last day. Paris, Treuttel and Würtz, 1831-1834. 4 vols. in-12 bound from (4)-90 pp.; (4)-156-(2) pp.; (4)-159 pp.; (4)-267 pp., printed covers. Mention of second edition in first volume; original edition of the last three parts. Written during the first years of Louis-Philippe's reign, Boucher de Perthes's work is a critique of Napoleon's policy of the "continental blockade" and protectionism; it is presented as a discussion between a winegrower, spokesman for the author's ideas, and a minister opposed to free trade. A fine copy with the author's autograph and an autograph copy sent to the Comte de Cayrol, along with his fleurdelisé ex-libris.
