History of Michel Lambert, or the influence of home economic - Lot 154
History of Michel Lambert, or the influence of home economics; preceded by an essay on the nature of works useful to morals, and on academic judgements. By M. *** Paris, Sautelet, 1828. In-8 paperback of (4)-412-(1) pp., printed cover. First edition of this work of morals remained anonymous. The Académie Française, in 1828, proposed a prize in favour of the writer who would have best treated a question relating to morality, leaving to each one a complete freedom on the choice of the subject and on the way to treat it. "The author was not embarrassed in the choice of his subject. Knowing that both good and bad habits are prolific in nature, he considered which ones produce the most children. One glance was enough to convince him that, of all the virtues, there is none that has more daughters than home economics.
