Joseph Fievee, Political and administrative correspondence b - Lot 299
Joseph Fievee, Political and administrative correspondence begun in May 1814 and dedicated to the Count of Blacas d'Aulps. Paris, Le Normant, 1815-1819. 15 issues bound in 2 vols. in-8, Havana half-basane, smooth spine decorated, red calf titlepapers Bound in contemporary style). Complete collection of this journal entirely written by Fiévée (1767-1839). Published as a correspondence, it is in fact a periodical appearing "within limits and at undetermined times, to escape censorship". (Hatin). "Of a proverbial rarity that is equaled only by its interest in the history of the Restoration. The only semi-periodical ultra-religious document until the birth of the Curator, the Correspondence is of exceptional political intelligence. It advocates, in a superb style of nervousness and irony, the application of the programme defended by the untraceable Chamber: decentralisation, defence of the clergy, supremacy of the Chamber of Deputies over the King, freedom of the press" (B. Yvert). Edition mention on the 1st and 5th issues. Hatin, 318. Very good copy.
