Paul-Antoine Cretien, Critical Letters about a sonnet in Fre - Lot 410
Paul-Antoine Cretien, Critical Letters about a sonnet in French. A Bresce, Chez Jean-Marie Rizzardi, 1746. In-4 of (4)-80 pp., vellum, framing net and fleurons with cold corners on the covers (contemporary binding). Rare impression of Brescia certainly printed in very small numbers. A literary commentary, murderer though erudite, coupled with a course of stylistics on the Sonet made by the Lionois, the complete text of which can be read at the end of the copy (p. 79). Its author, Paul-Antoine Crétien, who signs the dedication, was a teacher in Brescia ("this foreign hand has not reaped my schoolchildren"). Nice copy. Ex-libris "Marcellus Schlimovich"; stamp "Sociedad Hebraica Argentina". Only one copy listed (Biblioteca universitaria di Padova).
