DA RAVENNA SEVERO (1465-1538). (Attributed to). "Prancing horse ridden by a child". Bronze group with dark brown patina. The slightly scratched base is stable and in good condition, despite some missing and chipped patina. Mounted on a later rectangular base in patinated wood. Padua, 1st quarter of the 16th century. H.16cm, 23.2 cm with the base. The child on the horse was probably originally holding the reins (missing). There is no reason to believe that the pieces in this group were not born together. The attribution to Severo da Ravenna was verbally approved by Mrs. Ulrike Goetz to the present owner. Literature: A. Radcliffe and N. Penny - Art of the Renaissance Bronze 1500-1650, The Robert H. Smith Collection London 2004, N° 14, Washington U.S.A.
