CHRIST IN CROSS on a blackened wooden cross. Important silve - Lot 134
CHRIST IN CROSS on a blackened wooden cross. Important silver Christ figure derived from models by Jean de Bologne. Old hallmark illegible. The sculpture is worked in repoussé, with the arms fabricated separately and soldered, then cold chased. The hair, face and perizonium are a fine example of chasing and punching techniques. Probably Flanders, early 17th century. H.71 L.32.
