RARE PROJET DE CENOTAPHE DE MARIE ANTOINETTE in the style of Boizot and the works made for the Sevres edition. Original terracotta model. The framed low-relief portrait of Marie Antoinette is set in a floating drapery carried by a cloud of angels, in the manner of Louis XV period portraits of glory. On the back, a superb monogram of two interlaced "M" is recessed into the bouffant drapery. Sèvres stamp and mark on the back of the sculpture, pastiche of those of the Manufacture. Restoration-period work, a priori unique, made in the spirit of a return to the glory and glories of the Ancien Régime. H.38 L.22.
