MIGNARD Pierre (Troyes 1612-Paris 1695). "Saint Francis of Assisi at Prayer". Rectangular canvas with oval painted surface, (lined). 42.5x33.5cm. Inscription on reverse of old lining canvas. "P. Mignard/Pinxit anno/domini 1693/Paris ce 22 may/ donné au frère Joseph Marie/ de Cadenet - Capucin". Antique upside-down frame in carved wood, called "Sainte Lucie", model by Bagard, decorated with rabies of hearts in feuillure, acanthus leaves alternating with bouquets of tulips, vine leaves and mistletoe on the profile, wolf's teeth on the back. 17th century France.
