PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973). (After). "Profil de Marie-Thérèse - Lot 110
PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973). (After). "Profil de Marie-Thérèse en abîme, jeune homme au masque de Minotaure et vieux barbu aux oreilles d'âne, 7 mars 1934". Print. Proof. Engraved copper from the "caisse à remords", a series of copperplates engraved by Picasso between 1920 and 1955 and printed in 1960. At the time, the artist asked that they be set aside, preferring to work rather than concentrate on their signature. When he died in 1973, most of them had not been signed. The name "caisse à remords" derives from Picasso's negligence and the remorse of Kahnweiler, his art dealer, who regretted not having insisted that all those that came to him be signed. 23.5x31.5 With frame 43x53. Ref : "La caisse à remords" exhibition. Musée d'art moderne de Belfort 2019/2020. Provenance: studio of Jacques and Robert Frélaut, successors of Roger Lacourière. French private collection.
